Scholar, peacebuilder, and educator

Dr. Muhammad Asadullah is Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology at the University of Regina, Canada, where he has taught since 2019. He holds a PhD in Criminology from Simon Fraser University (2019), where his doctoral research examined the genesis and praxis of restorative justice across British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Bangladesh. He also holds an MA in Criminology (Simon Fraser University) and an MA in Conflict Transformation (Eastern Mennonite University). He currently holds Visiting Professorships at Daffodil International University (Bangladesh), the University of Dhaka, and Istanbul University.

Dr. Asadullah's research centres on restorative justice, decolonisation, transitional justice, and community-based responses to harm, with a particular focus on the Global South and on Indigenous communities in Canada. He is an Associate Member of the Centre for Restorative Justice at Simon Fraser University and a Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (USA).

He is the recipient of the University of Regina Provost's Award for Innovation in Teaching (2024), the President's Teaching Scholar Award (2022), and the Best Paper Prize of the Restorative Justice Working Group of the European Society of Criminology (2024). His research has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the BC Ministry of Public Safety, and other national and international bodies.

He has two books forthcoming with Emond Publishing and Routledge, scheduled for publication in September 2026, and an additional monograph currently under review with Fernwood Publishing.
